Final Fantasy 14 Is Making A Change To Chaotic Raid Rewards

Responding to player feedback, Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.16 will introduce a Clouddark Demimateria exchange system. This update, arriving January 21st, 2025, directly addresses concerns regarding the reward structure of the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid.

The key change allows players to exchange excess Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2. While the exact exchange rate remains unannounced, this alteration facilitates acquisition of high-demand items like the "A Half Times Two" hairstyle and the "Dais of Darkness" mount, both currently requiring significant quantities of Demimateria 2. These items are also tradable on the Market Board, suggesting potential price fluctuations following the patch.

The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, introduced in Patch 7.15, presented a challenging encounter for up to 24 players. The current reward system, awarding varying amounts of Demimateria 1 and 2 based on first-time clear bonuses, proved unbalanced, prompting the upcoming adjustment.

Square Enix emphasizes that this change is a direct response to community feedback, and further adjustments to the raid's reward structure or other aspects of the game are possible based on continued player input. While Patch 7.16 will also feature the conclusion of the Dawntrail Role Quest series, major job balance updates are anticipated in a later patch (7.2). The impact of player feedback on future raid content remains to be seen.
