The game director of The Blood Of Dawnwalker explained why he quit CDPR and opened his own studio

Following the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, not all CD Projekt RED veterans remained with the company. Some chose to pursue The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Recently revealed, The Blood of Dawnwalker is developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a CD Projekt RED veteran.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, in explaining his departure from CDPR, highlighted these key points:

The desire to pursue different creative avenues with close friends led to the founding of Rebel Wolves. Their passion for RPGs and their history is undeniable, but they envisioned expanding and evolving established RPG conventions. They developed innovative concepts, recognizing that convincing a large corporation to embrace such radical changes and novel intellectual property would be challenging. Therefore, establishing their own studio became the only way to realize their ambitious vision. This innovative approach inherently carries risk.

Unlike the complexities of large studios, Rebel Wolves prioritizes strong interpersonal relationships and collaboration. Tomaszkiewicz believes a smaller team fosters superior communication, streamlined vision alignment, and a more potent creative spark, making the development of truly unique experiences more attainable.
