Game Launch On Hold As Dev Faces Jail Term

The Steam FPS game, Fortune's Run, faces an indefinite delay due to its creator's three-year prison sentence. This unique circumstance, unlike typical delays stemming from financial or technical issues, leaves the game in early access limbo.

Prior to this news, Fortune's Run enjoyed positive reception on Steam, praised for its retro art style and engaging gameplay. However, all updates are now on hold until the developer, Dizzie, completes their sentence. While the specific crime remains undisclosed, Dizzie acknowledged past violent behavior. This situation, though unusual in game development, highlights the unpredictable nature of the industry.

Originally a collaborative project, Fortune's Run now rests solely on Dizzie's shoulders after the departure of a former team member following a medical complication and subsequent loss of interest in game development. With Dizzie's imprisonment commencing in February 2025, the projected 2026 early access release is highly unlikely. Despite this setback, the developer assures fans of their intent to complete the game upon release. Players can still access the current early access build, and numerous other excellent early access shooters on Steam offer alternatives in the interim. The game's future, while uncertain, isn't necessarily doomed, as many games have overcome extensive development delays.
