Harrison Ford Joins Marvel for Fun, Unbothered by Indiana Jones 5 Flop

Harrison Ford remains unfazed by the critical and commercial failure of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," shrugging it off with a casual "shit happens." Despite the film's estimated $100 million loss at the box office, Ford stands by his decision to return to the iconic role. He expressed to The Wall Street Journal Magazine his desire to explore one final chapter in the life of Indiana Jones, wanting to see the character face the consequences of his adventurous life and emerge, albeit with diminished vigor, to face new challenges. "I’m still happy I made that movie," Ford affirmed, showing his contentment with the project despite its reception.

Transitioning from one legendary franchise to another, Ford has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in "Captain America: Brave New World," taking on the role of Thaddeus Ross, previously played by the late William Hurt. In this film, Ford's character will transform into the Red Hulk, a development Ford was unaware of when he signed on. His decision to join the MCU was driven by a desire for a good time, influenced by seeing other actors he admired enjoying their roles in Marvel films. "Why not? I saw enough Marvels to see actors that I admired having a good time," Ford explained. He likened his experience to life itself, where sometimes you proceed without knowing all the details until the very end.

"Captain America: Brave New World" is set to be one of the shortest MCU films to date and will be released on February 14. It marks a significant shift as it stars Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, replacing Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. The movie will also introduce deep-cut characters from Marvel lore, including The Leader, fulfilling a tease from the second MCU film, "The Incredible Hulk."
