"Haunted Mirror Usage Guide in Phasmophobia"
In the chilling world of *Phasmophobia*, tracking down and identifying the most dangerous ghosts often requires more than just standard ghost-hunting equipment. Sometimes, you’ll need to take a risk by using one of the game’s special Cursed Possessions—items that offer powerful insights at a potentially deadly cost. Among these, the Haunted Mirror stands out as one of the safest and most effective tools available. If you're unsure how it works or whether it's worth the risk, here's everything you need to know.
How to Use the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia
The Haunted Mirror remains one of the most reliable Cursed Objects in *Phasmophobia*. Unlike other cursed items that can lead to immediate danger, the mirror is relatively safe and its reward is incredibly valuable—it reveals the ghost’s current favorite room or area on the map. This gives players a significant advantage by allowing them to locate the ghost quickly and set up their gear in the right location before things get too intense.
The mirror typically appears hanging on a wall (like in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or lying on the floor in its designated spawn spot. While the exact spawn location is fixed per map, the chance of it appearing during a contract is randomized—so when it does show up, don’t miss your opportunity to use it.
To activate the mirror, simply pick it up and interact with it using the appropriate key or controller button. Once held up, the mirror will display a panoramic view of the ghost’s current favorite room. If you’re familiar with the layout of the map, this visual clue makes it much easier to pinpoint the ghost’s location.
Keep in mind, however, that staying in front of the mirror for too long will drain your sanity. In higher difficulties like Professional or above, the ghost may also move to a new area after some time, so act fast. Also, if you hold the mirror up continuously until it breaks, it will trigger a Cursed Hunt at your current location—making you an easy target. Therefore, it’s best to use the mirror when your sanity levels are high and you’re in a relatively safe spot.
What Are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions—often referred to as Cursed Objects—are unique interactive items that randomly appear in *Phasmophobia* maps. Their appearance can vary depending on the difficulty setting or whether you're playing in Challenge Mode. Unlike regular equipment, which helps gather evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects manipulate the ghost’s behavior directly—but usually at a greater personal risk.
Each Cursed Object has its own specific function, and while some are safer than others, they all provide shortcuts to uncovering the ghost’s identity or location. There’s no penalty for choosing not to use them, and only one Cursed Object will appear per contract unless modified in Custom Mode.
Here's a list of all seven Cursed Objects currently available in *Phasmophobia*:
- Summoning Circle
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
