Hearthstone has unveiled detailed information about the highly anticipated Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, confirming its release date as January 21. This Mini-Set, the largest in the game's history, introduces 49 new cards to the Hearthstone universe. These cards are split among class-specific cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and a unique factionless neutral Legendary card, offering players a rich variety of new gameplay options.

During the Warcraft Direct event on November 13, 2024, Hearthstone first teased the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set as part of The Great Dark Beyond expansion. This Mini-Set not only expands the Hearthstone card pool but also serves as a crossover event, bringing elements from Blizzard’s beloved yet underappreciated science fiction RTS, StarCraft, into the card game. Initial details were sparse, but more comprehensive information was promised post-New Year.

Two months after the initial announcement, Hearthstone has now fully disclosed the contents of this expansive Mini-Set. Heroes of StarCraft contains 49 brand-new cards – a significant increase over the typical 38 cards found in other Mini-Sets. Each Hearthstone class receives three new cards, while each of the three StarCraft factions – Zerg, Protoss, and Terran – is represented by five cards that can be utilized by the classes aligned with them, including one Legendary card per faction. Rounding out the set is Grunty, a neutral Legendary card. Hearthstone has already showcased some of these cards, with further reveals planned throughout the week leading up to the Mini-Set's release.

The Zerg cards, available to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, emphasize summoning numerous Zerglings and leveraging the Hydralisk to deal damage proportional to the swarm's size. Meanwhile, the Protoss cards for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue focus on mana manipulation, enabling players to cast high-cost cards like the Carrier more efficiently. The Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes benefit from new Starship mechanics, introduced in The Great Dark Beyond set, with fresh Starship Pieces, easier multi-Starship launches, and a special Starship featuring the Mech creature type.

However, the increased size of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set also means a higher price point. While players can still pull these cards from The Great Dark Beyond packs, a complete playset of Heroes of StarCraft cards is available for $20 or 2500 gold – a $5 and 500 gold increase over standard Mini-Sets. The all-Golden version of the set is priced at $80 or 12,000 gold, up from the usual $70 and 10,000 gold. For those interested in specific factions, Protoss, Terran, or Zerg cards can be purchased separately for $10 or 1200 gold.

Hearthstone is also hosting two special events to celebrate the Mini-Set's launch: StarCast and HearthCraft. StarCast, scheduled for January 23 at 10 AM PST, will feature renowned StarCraft players TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards in action. HearthCraft, on January 24 at 9 AM PST, will see Hearthstone community creators representing each StarCraft faction in competitive matches and mini-games. Viewers of these events on Twitch can earn two regular and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs, so fans should tune in to secure their free rewards.
