A Sequel Expected Within a Few Years
Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced its intention to create a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, the critically acclaimed Harry Potter action RPG that has sold over 24 million copies since its release. During Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels stated that a sequel is a top priority for the company, according to Variety.
"Developing a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is undoubtedly one of our highest priorities in the coming years," Wiedenfels confirmed. "We anticipate significant revenue growth from our games division, and this sequel will be a key contributor."
Earlier this year, Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad spoke to Variety, highlighting the game's remarkable replayability as a major factor in its success. "Many players have revisited the game multiple times," Haddad noted. He emphasized that the game's commercial performance and replay value weren't the only reasons for celebration: "It brought the Harry Potter universe to life in a fresh, engaging way, allowing players to truly immerse themselves in the story and be themselves within that world."
Haddad believes this immersive quality is what truly resonated with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts. He added, "That's a position usually occupied by established franchises' sequels, and we're incredibly proud to have achieved this."
Game8 was particularly impressed with the game's visuals, calling it a breathtaking visual experience for Harry Potter fans. For a detailed review, please visit our site [link to review].
