Battlefield 6 Slashes MCOM Timers by 33%

Battlefield 6 publisher EA is implementing adjustments to the Rush game mode to achieve a "better balance" between attackers and defenders.

These changes coincide with the start of Battlefield 6's second Open Beta Weekend, which is currently live (August 15) and runs through Sunday, August 17. The All-Out Warfare playlist features Breakthrough, Conquest, and Rush. However, it's the Rush mode that appears to be causing some frustration among players.

For those unfamiliar, Rush requires players to destroy military communication relays, known as MCOMs, either through heavy explosives or by planting a bomb. The bomb-planting mechanic has been a particular point of contention. With a lengthy 45-second timer between placement and detonation, the delay was deemed excessive and tipped the scales unfairly toward one side.

Developer DICE has already taken action. In a social media post, the team confirmed that "we've just made a change to Rush: the MCOM timer is now reduced from 45 to 30 seconds to better balance the gameplay between attacking and defending players."

The team stated it will "continue to monitor and are ready and able to make further balance adjustments." This is timely, as the timer isn't the only issue bothering the community. Players have also criticized the proximity of MCOM objectives to spawn points, leading to frustrating spawn traps on maps like Iberian, Empire, and Siege of Cairo.

"I think the Rush game mode should be disabled in Battlefield 6 until it's been properly worked on," suggested one dissatisfied player. "Every map has severe balance issues, with virtually no space between sectors/MCOM locations. Even 12v12 matches feel chaotic and poorly designed. It's a real shame, as Rush used to be a fantastic mode." This post has garnered over 3,000 likes at the time of writing.

Earlier this week, EA released a statement acknowledging the cheating problem in Battlefield 6 and detailing its ongoing efforts to combat it, alongside its requirement for players to enable Secure Boot in their BIOS. The publisher noted its existing anti-cheat technology has already blocked over 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with the system. Furthermore, players reported 44,000 cheating instances on the first day and an additional 60,000 since. EA commits to continually improving its anti-cheat measures and encourages the community to keep reporting suspicious activity.
