Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Won't Have Denuvo DRM
Warhorse Studios confirms: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) will launch DRM-free. Contrary to circulating rumors, the medieval action-RPG will not utilize any digital rights management (DRM) technology, including Denuvo.
KCD2: No DRM Confirmed
Following player inquiries and misinformation, Warhorse Studios' PR head, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, explicitly stated during a Twitch stream that KCD2 will be completely devoid of DRM. He appealed to fans to cease inquiries about Denuvo's inclusion, emphasizing that any unconfirmed information is inaccurate.
"KCD 2 will not have Denuvo; it will not have any DRM system," Stolz-Zwilling clarified. He attributed the confusion to miscommunication and urged an end to the ongoing speculation.
The absence of DRM addresses player concerns about potential performance impacts often associated with such technologies, particularly Denuvo. Denuvo, while acting as anti-piracy software, has faced criticism for alleged negative effects on game performance and playability. Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, has attributed the negative perception to misinformation and confirmation bias.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set for release in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game continues the story of Henry, a blacksmith-in-training, in medieval Bohemia. Kickstarter backers who pledged at least $200 will receive a free copy.
