Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations
Lies of P Director Choi Ji-Won found inspiration and refreshment after participating in Elden Ring: Nightreign’s network test, sparking new ideas for future projects. During the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared with Eurogamer his thoughts on the evolution of the Souls genre. His admiration for FromSoftware games is clear in the design of Lies of P.
Reflecting on Elden Ring: Nightreign, Choi remarked, "Playing Nightreign was incredibly refreshing and innovative. It's evident that FromSoftware continues to push the boundaries of their creativity and vision. This experience has motivated me to ensure Overture meets the highest standards."
Choi also expressed openness to exploring multiplayer games, stating, "We are certainly open to considering various directions for our future projects."
Despite his affinity for FromSoftware titles, Choi emphasized that his inspirations are diverse. In an interview with Games Radar+ at the 2025 GDC, he explained, "My inspiration stems from a wide range of games. I take these varied experiences and blend them into the unique world of Lies of P, creating a rich tapestry of influences that shape our game for our dedicated fans."
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players
Choi disclosed that the Overture DLC will take experienced players approximately 15-20 hours to complete, packed with numerous bosses and content originally intended for the base game's launch. He elaborated, "Overture is deeply interconnected with the base game, making its development a vital part of completing the Lies of P experience, which was quite challenging."
Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to Krat during its final haunting days, following a legendary Stalker. It incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and concepts that couldn't be included initially due to development constraints. Choi likened this release to a Director's Cut, essentially serving as the final third of the game.
He noted, "We had to prioritize quality over quantity when launching the base game, which meant some content was left out. The overwhelming support from our community after the release inspired us to deliver everything we wanted in this expansion."
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game
In a conversation with IGN at the 2025 GDC, Choi clarified that the Overture DLC does not directly follow the final cutscene of the base game. While the ending hinted at potential directions for the Lies of P universe, Choi confirmed in a November 2023 Director’s Letter that a sequel is in the works, though details remain scarce.
Choi assured fans, "When we're ready to share news or media about future projects, you'll know it's because we're confident in its quality. Despite the pressure, our focus remains on delivering the best possible experience."
He encouraged players to revisit the base game, noting that it contains numerous hints about the DLC's content. Choi also mentioned enjoying fan theories online, some of which he found quite accurate.
Lies of P: Overture is slated for a Summer 2025 release, with no specific date announced yet. It will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest news by checking out our dedicated article below!
