Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, released late last year, has reportedly surpassed 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong player demand for this action-packed remaster. Despite initial technical hiccups and some controversy, the game's sales figures clearly indicate its success.

Developed by Dragami Games (though originally created by Grasshopper Manufacture, known for titles like No More Heroes), Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a hack-and-slash game where players wield a chainsaw as a cheerleader battling zombies. Dragami Games' remaster introduced quality-of-life improvements and updated visuals.

This sales milestone, achieved several months after the September 2024 launch across current and last-gen consoles and PC, was announced by Dragami Games via a tweet.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Sales Triumph

Players take on the role of Juliet Starling, a cheerleader whose zombie-hunting lineage is revealed when her school is overrun by the undead. Fast-paced, chainsaw-fueled combat against waves of zombies and unique bosses is reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, selling over a million copies. This initial popularity likely stemmed from the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda and James Gunn, who contributed to the game's narrative.

While future DLC or a sequel remains unconfirmed, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's performance bodes well for remasters of other cult classics. This positive trend is further exemplified by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, bringing another Grasshopper Manufacture title to modern platforms.
