SHIFT UP's Ambitious Goals Beyond Stellar Blade's Success
SHIFT UP's Stellar Blade dominated the 2024 Korea Game Awards, earning seven accolades, including the coveted Excellence Award. The awards ceremony, staged at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO), acknowledged the game's exceptional achievements in Game Planning/Scenario, Graphics, Character Design, and Sound Design. Adding to its impressive haul, Stellar Blade also received the Outstanding Developer Award and the Popular Game Award.
This marks the fifth Korea Game Awards win for Stellar Blade Director and SHIFT UP CEO, Kim Hyung-tae. His previous successes include Magna Carta 2 (Xbox 360), The War of Genesis 3 (1999), Blade & Soul (2012), and Goddess of Victory: Nikke (2023).
In his acceptance speech, as reported by Econovill (translated via Google), Kim Hyung-tae expressed gratitude, stating, "Initially, many doubted our ability to develop a successful console game in Korea. However, thanks to our dedicated staff and partners, we've achieved significant results."
While Stellar Blade narrowly missed the Grand Prize (awarded to Netmarble's Solo Leveling: ARISE), SHIFT UP remains committed to its future. Kim Hyung-tae affirmed, "Stellar Blade's journey isn't over. We're preparing numerous updates, so stay tuned. Our goal is to create an even better game and win the grand prize next time."
