Neil Druckmann: No Promises on The Last of Us Part 3
If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential *Part 3* video game, you might want to brace yourself. Series creator Neil Druckmann has recently poured cold water on any hopes that a *Part 3* is in development—or might ever be.
In a detailed interview with Variety, primarily focused on the *The Last of Us* TV series, Druckmann was asked about the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3*. His response was quite definitive:
“I was waiting for this question,” he said, with a sigh. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
The question now is whether to take Druckmann at his word. Currently, Naughty Dog is deeply engaged with their new project, *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window in sight, it's clear that the studio's focus is firmly on this space-themed endeavor, leaving little room for *The Last of Us Part 3* in the near future. Druckmann might be playing it close to the chest, or perhaps he's genuinely not ready to commit. Only time will tell if his stance changes, or if he's truly finished with the series.
For those still hungry for more *The Last of Us*, the television series offers a promising alternative. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about how many seasons it will take to fully adapt *Part 2*, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons might be the ideal number to tell the complete story.
