Netflix updates a classic with their iteration of Minesweeper, out now!

Netflix Games' newest addition is a fresh take on the timeless Minesweeper. Originally a Microsoft PC staple from the 90s (with an even older design), this version boasts enhanced graphics and a globe-trotting world tour mode.

Unlike some of Netflix Games' more complex indie titles and show tie-ins, this is a straightforward logic puzzle. Many will be familiar with Minesweeper from other devices. In the Netflix adaptation, players navigate a global map, identifying and marking hidden explosives to unlock new locations.

Minesweeper's core gameplay remains unchanged: a grid-based search for mines. Each revealed square displays a number indicating adjacent mines. Players flag suspected mine locations, methodically clearing the board until all mines are identified or flagged.

While its appeal might be less immediate to those accustomed to simpler mobile games like Fruit Ninja or Candy Crush, Minesweeper's enduring popularity is undeniable. Even a quick refresher on the rules proved surprisingly captivating.

Will this alone entice new subscribers to Netflix's premium tier? Perhaps not. However, for existing subscribers who enjoy classic logic puzzles, Minesweeper offers another compelling reason to maintain their subscription.
