A Coastal Conflict on the Continent
Netflix Tudum, the official streaming service's news platform, confirms the February 11, 2025 release date for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. This animated spin-off adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.
The story unfolds in a coastal village, where a centuries-old conflict between humans and merfolk forces a Continent kingdom to enlist Geralt's services. This time, Geralt faces a unique challenge, trading typical monsters for the aquatic threat of merpeople.
Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.
Sapkowski acts as creative consultant, while Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) pen the script. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs the film.
A Season 1 Interlude
The film's timeline slots neatly between episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher's first season. Following Geralt and Yennefer's reunion in Rinde after the Djinn incident (episode 5, "Bottled Appetites"), Geralt accepts a commission to resolve a monstrous problem near the coast.
The proximity of Rinde suggests a location between Redania and Temeria. Considering the source material, Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval, is a strong possibility. However, the film's adherence to the short story remains to be seen.
