Oscar Nominations 2025 Announced: Emilia Pérez, Wicked, and The Brutalist Among Top Nominees
The 97th Academy Awards nominations are in, and Emilia Pérez is the frontrunner, receiving a record-breaking 13 nominations—the most ever for a non-English language film. Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang announced the nominations on January 23rd during a live stream on the Oscars YouTube channel.
Jacques Audiard's Spanish crime thriller, Emilia Pérez, secured nominations across major categories, including Best Picture, Best Director (Audiard himself), and Best Lead Actress (Karla Sofía Gascón). Wicked and The Brutalist followed closely with 10 nominations each, while Conclave and A Complete Unknown earned eight apiece.

The 97th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The event will air live on ABC (U.S.), ITV (UK), and in over 200 territories globally. This year marks a first: a live stream will also be available on Hulu.
