Path of Exile 2 PC Freeze Fix Released, Optimizing Performance
Troubleshooting Path of Exile 2 PC Freezing Issues
Grinding Gear Games' Path of Exile 2, a Diablo-like action RPG, has proven popular but not without its glitches. Many players experience complete PC freezes requiring hard restarts, particularly during loading screens or gameplay. While an official patch is awaited, several workarounds can mitigate this problem:
Initial Troubleshooting Steps:
- Graphics API: Experiment with switching between Vulkan and DirectX 11 at game launch.
- V-Sync: Disable V-Sync in the game's graphics settings.
- Multithreading: Deactivate multithreading in the graphics settings.
Advanced Solution (Courtesy of Steam user svzanghi):
If the above steps fail, this method, while inconvenient, allows for a game restart without a full PC reboot:
- Launch the game.
- Open Task Manager: Access Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc). Click "Details."
- Adjust Affinity: Right-click on "POE2.exe." Select "Set Affinity."
- Disable Cores: Uncheck the boxes for CPU 0 and CPU 1.
This prevents a complete system freeze, enabling a forced game closure and relaunch via Task Manager. However, this process must be repeated each time you start Path of Exile 2, or a full PC reboot will be necessary if freezing persists.
