Become a WoW Legend: Your Guide to Obtaining the Riding Turtle Mount

The World of Warcraft is a competitive landscape, but certain in-game treasures, like the elusive Riding Turtle mount, set you apart. This guide details how to acquire this rare and highly sought-after item.

What's the Big Deal About the Riding Turtle?

Recent WoW pre-update changes allow solo players to form groups, opening opportunities to obtain exotic creatures such as the Riding Turtle and Sea Turtle. These mounts are highly collectible. However, these methods may be adjusted by Blizzard in future updates, so act quickly!

The Angler's Approach: A Step-by-Step Guide

The key lies in your garrison's waters.

  • The Achievement: First, you need the Draenor Angler achievement (catching 100 of each Enormous Fish species in Warlords of Draenor). This unlocks a level 3 garrison fishing shack, crucial for catching the necessary fish.

  • The Fish: Alliance players target Lunarfall Carp; Horde players seek Frostdeep Minnow. These fish have a low (3%) drop rate, so maximizing your fishing gear and buffs is recommended.

  • Summoning the Cave Dwellers: Return the fish to the lake to summon the Lunarfall Cavedweller (Alliance) or Frostdeep Cavedweller (Horde). These formidable mobs drop the Riding Turtle and Sea Turtle mounts.

Why Now is the Perfect Time

Previously, only the player who tagged the Cave Dweller received the loot. The latest patch allows raid groups of up to 40 players to share the spoils, dramatically increasing your chances.

While the individual drop rates remain low (3% for fish, 0.5% for the mount from the Cavedweller), having 40 players significantly improves your odds.

Joining or Forming a Raid Group

You don't need the Draenor Angler achievement to join a raid, but demonstrating your ability to contribute (catching your own fish) will improve your chances of being accepted. Consider finding a welcoming group or forming your own to maximize your rewards.
