Where to Find Bagon

Bagon Location in Pokémon Violet

Several locations in *Pokémon Violet* offer opportunities to encounter Bagon. Begin your search in the expansive East Province (Area Three), known for its numerous caves. A guaranteed Bagon encounter can be found on a mountain in South Province (Area Five), southwest of the bridge connecting the grassy and rocky areas. Another excellent spot is Dalizapa Passage, north of The Great Crater of Paldea, offering a chance to encounter Bagon alongside other rare Pokémon within its cave system. Finally, 3-star Tera Raids (unlocked after obtaining three Gym Badges) may also yield Bagon, though its Tera Type might differ from its standard type.

How to Trade and Transfer Pokémon

Trading Pokemon

Since Bagon is exclusive to *Pokémon Violet*, *Scarlet* players must utilize trading or Pokémon HOME to obtain it. Trading requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership and involves joining or creating a Union Circle group. Alternatively, Pokémon HOME allows transferring Bagon from compatible games such as *Pokémon Sword/Shield* (Expansion Pass), *Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl*, or other Pokémon HOME-compatible titles. Transferring involves moving Bagon to the Basic Box in HOME, then transferring it to your *Pokémon Scarlet* PC Boxes.

How to Evolve Bagon into Shelgon and Salamence

What Level Does Bagon Evolve?

Bagon Evolution

Bagon evolves into Shelgon at level 30, and Shelgon evolves into Salamence at level 50. Accelerate this process by utilizing auto-battling against appropriately leveled Pokémon, or by using Exp. Candy (L, XL, or M).

Alternatively, Shelgon and Salamence can be obtained from 4-star and 5/6-star Tera Raids, respectively.

Salamence Stats

Salamence, a pseudo-legendary Pokémon with a base stat total of 600, boasts impressive offensive capabilities. Its Dragon/Flying typing grants it numerous type advantages, but also leaves it vulnerable to Ice-type attacks (x4 weakness). Adamant or Lonely natures are recommended to maximize its Attack stat. Below are its stats:

HP:95
Attack:135
Special Attack:110
Defense:80
Special Defense:80
Speed:100
Total:600

Super Effective Against: Dragon

Weaknesses: Ice (x4), Fairy, Dragon, Rock

Resistances: Grass (x1/4), Water, Fire, Fighting, Bug

Immunities: Ground

Recommended Moves

Salamence's high Attack stat makes it ideal for physical moves such as Dragon Claw. To counter its weaknesses, consider Iron Head (TM099). However, its Special Attack is also noteworthy, allowing for special attack builds utilizing moves like Draco Meteor and Flamethrower. A Timid nature would be better suited for a special attacker.
