PS5 Pro Might Be Coming In Late 2024, Gamescom Devs Reveal
Gamescom 2024 buzzed with whispers about the PlayStation 5 Pro, its potential specifications fueling speculation among developers and journalists alike. This article explores the PS5 Pro rumors, potential specs, and the discussions surrounding its release.
PS5 Pro Dominates Gamescom 2024 Conversations
Developers Adjust Release Plans for Anticipated PS5 Pro Launch
Rumors of a PlayStation 5 Pro have been circulating throughout 2024, fueled by earlier leaks. Gamescom 2024 saw this speculation intensify, with developers openly discussing the upcoming console. According to Alessio Palumbo of Wccftech, some developers have even delayed game launches to coincide with the PS5 Pro's anticipated arrival.
Palumbo reported a significant detail: "A developer, who chose to remain anonymous, spontaneously mentioned receiving PS5 Pro specifications and expressed confidence in Unreal Engine 5's enhanced performance on the new hardware compared to the standard PS5."
This corroborates a Multiplayer.it live stream report detailing a developer delaying a game release to align with the rumored PS5 Pro launch. Palumbo added, "Based on Multiplayer's report and my own source, these are clearly different developers. The studio I spoke with isn't a major player, suggesting widespread access to the PS5 Pro's specs amongst developers."
Analyst Predicts Imminent PS5 Pro Release
Further bolstering Palumbo's findings and Gamescom insights, analyst William R. Aguilar hinted on X (formerly Twitter) in July that Sony might announce the PS5 Pro later this year. Aguilar suggested a possible September 2024 State of Play announcement, emphasizing Sony's need for timely action to avoid impacting current PS5 sales.
This timeline mirrors the PlayStation 4 Pro's 2016 release, announced September 7th and launched November 10th. Palumbo notes that if Sony follows a similar pattern, "an official announcement seems imminent."
