During Sony's recent State of Play showcase, the announcement of *Days Gone Remastered* caught the attention of many, but it has left some PlayStation Plus subscribers feeling frustrated due to the $10 upgrade policy. Sony has clarified that the $10 upgrade option for the PlayStation 5 remastered version is exclusively available to owners of the PlayStation 4 disc or digital copy of *Days Gone*. Unfortunately, this means that those who obtained the game through the PS Plus subscription service, including the now-defunct PS Plus Collection and the Essential monthly offering in April 2021, are not eligible for this discounted upgrade. Instead, these subscribers must pay the full price of $49.99 to access the new PS5 version.

This decision has sparked a wave of discontent among PS Plus subscribers, many of whom have taken to social media to express their disappointment. A notable thread on the PlayStation Plus subreddit showcases numerous comments from subscribers who were willing to pay the $10 upgrade fee but are now opting to skip the remastered version altogether due to the full-price requirement.

User squarejellyfish_ pointed out, "They would actually have made a decent chunk of change if PS Plus players were eligible, even if most didn’t want to play it they’d at least be interested in paying 10 bucks to try it out for an hour or two." Similarly, teckn9ne79 stated, "They should let Essentials upgrade cause I would pay the $10, but I will not buy it any other way. I will stick with the one I got." Dredizzle99 added, "There's no way I'm paying full price for this, but I'd happily pay for the upgrade at least just to check it out. Surely the majority of people that have it on PS Plus are thinking the same thing, so they're basically losing all the potential sales from them." Jackanyon95 also chimed in, "They gave away the game for free so every copy is an extra £10/$10 they wouldn't have had but they decided to be awkward instead and cut out half the owner base. I'm not paying full price, it didn't even need a remaster."

Those who own Days Gone via PS Plus miss out on the $10 upgrade. They believe that Sony has likely conducted financial analyses and concluded that restricting the upgrade would be more profitable. Despite this, Sony is facing criticism from its dedicated fanbase, who are calling the company "stingy" for not extending a more generous offer to PS Plus members.
