Gameplay Trailer Showcases Rhythm-Based Combat and Boss Battles
The trailer showcases intense battles, including a clash with a colossal boss crab, highlighting Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm game mechanics and side-scrolling action. A key feature is its online co-op mode, allowing up to four players to engage in massive melee battles with over 100 characters.
Developed by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and featuring music by the original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi, Ratatan's Kickstarter campaign successfully surpassed its console launch goal, ensuring its release on multiple platforms.
Closed Beta Test Commences February 27, 2025
The closed beta test is scheduled to begin on February 27, 2025, as announced on the game's Kickstarter page. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared exciting updates, including over 100,000 Steam wishlists and positive reception to the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While the game won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is prioritizing the closed beta and preparing an enhanced demo for the June Steam Next Fest.
The closed beta will initially feature Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 added throughout the approximately one-month testing period. Distribution details for beta codes will be announced via Discord and X.
Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A precise release date remains unannounced.
