Best Redwing Decks in Marvel Snap

Marvel Snap's roster of animal companions has been rather limited – Cosmo, Groose, Zabu, and Hit Monkey being the mainstays. However, the Brave New World season introduces a new feathered friend: Redwing, Falcon's pet.

Redwing's Mechanics in Marvel Snap

Redwing is a 3-cost, 4-power card with a unique ability: The first time it moves, it adds a card from your hand to its previous location. This presents some key limitations:

  • Single-Use Ability: Redwing's effect triggers only once, regardless of attempts to reuse it via cards like Symbiote Spider-Man or hand manipulation.
  • Targeting Challenges: Precisely targeting the card added with Redwing proves difficult. Move decks often contain low-cost cards (like Iron Fist) that are undesirable targets, while Scream-focused decks typically manipulate opponent's cards rather than their own.

Despite these limitations, budget-friendly move cards like Madame Web or Cloak (accessible to players with lower Collection Levels) can effectively utilize Redwing. Its potential for game-changing plays exists, particularly by deploying a powerful card like Galactus early or drawing a high-value card such as The Infinaut.

Optimal Redwing Decks (Day One)

Ares and Surtur dominated the previous season, and a new Scream-based deck incorporating Aero and Heimdall continues this strategy. Redwing surprisingly fits into this meta, although its use is often secondary to playing Surtur on turn 3. This high-cost deck includes:

  • Hydra Bob
  • Scream
  • Kraven
  • Captain America
  • Redwing
  • Polaris
  • Surtur
  • Ares
  • Cull Obsidian
  • Aero
  • Heimdall
  • Magneto

This deck heavily relies on Series 5 cards (Hydra Bob, Scream, Redwing, Surtur, Ares, Cull Obsidian), making it expensive. Hydra Bob can be substituted with a 1-cost card like Rocket Raccoon or Iceman, but the other Series 5 cards are essential. The strategy centers around playing Surtur on turn 3, followed by high-power cards to boost Surtur's power, with Scream providing an alternative win condition. Polaris, Aero, and Magneto manipulate card placement, while Redwing can be moved into Heimdall to buff Surtur and draw a high-power card.

Another potential deck incorporating Redwing uses Madame Web, though the Dagger nerf has significantly reduced the viability of move-based decks. This Ongoing-focused deck includes:

  • Ant-Man
  • Madame Web
  • Psylocke
  • Sam Wilson
  • Captain America
  • Luke Cage
  • Captain America
  • Redwing
  • Doom 2099
  • Iron Lad
  • Blue Marvel
  • Doctor Doom
  • Spectrum

This deck features two Series 5 cards (Madame Web and Doom 2099). Madame Web isn't strictly necessary, and removing her necessitates removing Redwing for another Ongoing card like Mobius M. Mobius. The core strategy revolves around deploying Doom 2099 to distribute power across locations, with Madame Web assisting in card placement. Redwing provides an additional method for moving cards, particularly Sam Wilson's shield, and can be moved into Madame Web to draw a card.

Is Redwing Worth the Investment?

Currently, Redwing's value is questionable. The card feels underpowered, and the move archetype it supports is also relatively weak. Saving resources for future cards is recommended unless significant buffs are implemented by the developers.
