New Releases Hit Switch Today
Hello fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 29th, 2024! Today's update is packed with new releases, forming the core of this Thursday's column, as usual. We'll also explore a substantial list of new sales. Unfortunately, we can't have daily Nintendo Directs, but let's dive into the games!
Featured New Releases
Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club ($49.99)
The Famicom Detective Club returns after a lengthy hiatus! This new installment stays true to the originals, both in its strengths and weaknesses. A fresh mystery awaits, presented in a style reminiscent of the recent Switch remakes. Can you crack the latest serial murder case? My review is coming soon.
Gundam Breaker 4 ($59.99)
Mikhail's comprehensive review provides an in-depth look at this title's gameplay and Switch performance. In short: build and battle Gunplas. While the Switch version naturally lags behind others in performance, it's perfectly playable. Read Mikhail's excellent review for the full scoop!
Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn ($19.99)
Tengo Project continues its impressive streak of remakes/reimaginings. Following the success of Wild Guns Reloaded, The Ninja Saviors, and Pocky & Rocky Reshrined, they now tackle an 8-bit classic. This iteration differs significantly from the original. However, if you crave classic-style action-platforming, this is a solid choice. My review drops early next week.
Valfaris: Mecha Therion ($19.99)
A Valfaris sequel, but with a twist! Forget the original's gameplay; this is a 2.5D side-scrolling shooter. While the genre shift surprised some, it's a worthwhile experience. Review coming soon!
Nour: Play With Your Food ($9.99)
I'll admit, I'm a bit puzzled by this one. Stunning food visuals are present, but the gameplay remains unclear. Photography? Secret-finding? Mikhail might shed some light on this one.
Monster Jam Showdown ($49.99)
For monster truck enthusiasts, this game offers local and online multiplayer, numerous modes, and more. Reception on other platforms was mixed, but it might satisfy fans of the genre.
WitchSpring R ($39.99)
A potential WitchSpring remake (though I might be mistaken). Previously a budget-friendly mobile title, its price now approaches that of an Atelier game. Worth considering if you're a fan of the series.
Depths of Sanity ($19.99)
An underwater exploration game with a fantastical horror twist. Investigate your missing crew's fate in a vast, perilous underwater world. Combat is involved. Well-received on other platforms.
Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire ($19.99)
Voltaire, a vegan vampire, rebels against his bloodthirsty father. Farming and action await as you defend your lifestyle choices. Might appeal to those seeking a farming/action hybrid.
Marble Abduction! Patti Hattu ($11.79)
A marble roller game with 70 stages and 80 marbles to collect. Secret collectibles and challenges add replayability. For fans of speed and precision marble rolling.
Leo: The Firefighter Cat ($24.99)
A kid-friendly firefighting game with 20 missions. A different take on the firefighting genre, potentially appealing to younger players.
Gori: Cuddly Carnage ($21.99)
A hoverboarding cat slices and dices enemies in this grotesque action game. The core gameplay is decent, but the Switch version suffers from technical issues.
Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation ($7.99)
A 1985 Konami vertical shooter featuring a transforming robot protagonist. A charming, retro shooter experience.
EGGCONSOLE Xanadu Scenario II PC-8801mkIISR ($6.49)
An early expansion pack featuring new areas to explore. Gameplay is similar to the original, but more challenging. Noteworthy for featuring the debut work of Yuzo Koshiro.
The Backrooms: Survival ($10.99)
A blend of horror, survival, and roguelite elements. Best experienced with up to ten online players.
Can of Wormholes ($19.99)
A clever puzzle game where you, a sentient tin can, must deal with worms. 100 handcrafted puzzles with constantly evolving mechanics.
Ninja I & II ($9.99)
Two NES-style microgames with a ninja twist. Competitive local multiplayer or CPU battles.
Dice Make 10! ($3.99)
A surprisingly fun puzzle game with two modes: falling blocks and placement puzzles. The goal is to create rows/columns where dice faces add up to multiples of ten.

That's all for today! We'll return tomorrow with more new releases, sales, and news. Reviews may also be included, time permitting. A significant typhoon is impacting the area, so there's a slight chance tomorrow's update might be delayed. Have a great Thursday!
