Rocksteady begins search for Game Director for its next Batman game

Author : Audrey Update : Feb 26,2025

Rocksteady Studios is actively seeking a Game Director for its next major project, as evidenced by a job posting from Warner Bros. Discovery on February 17th.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for crafting a high-caliber game design, encompassing all aspects from fundamental gameplay mechanics and player progression to combat systems and mission structure. Experience in diverse genres, including third-person action, open-world adventures, and melee-focused combat titles, is highly desirable. This job description has fueled speculation of a potential return to the Batman franchise, the series that catapulted Rocksteady to fame.

The requirements strongly align with the Batman: Arkham series, contrasting with the gunplay-centric focus of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

As Rocksteady is in the early stages of recruitment, the game is likely still in its conceptual phase. Industry expert Jason Schreier suggests that, should a new single-player Batman title materialize, it wouldn't launch for several years.

Rocksteady's latest release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (February 2nd, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam), garnered mixed reception, scoring 63/100 on Metacritic (critics) and 4.2/10 (users).

Previous reports hinted at a potential Rocksteady Batman project, possibly inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
