The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is a top-tier drive for your gaming PC or PlayStation 5. It easily surpasses Sony's minimum speed requirements for the PS5, boasting read speeds up to 7,250 MB/s and write speeds up to 6,300 MB/s. While not quite as fast as the 990 Pro, it's considerably faster than the standard 990 Evo, and the performance difference is negligible for most users. The key difference? This drive is DRAM-less. For PS5 gaming, this makes no difference. For PCs, it utilizes HMB (host memory buffer), borrowing a tiny amount of system RAM—a change gamers won't notice.

This SSD doesn't include a pre-installed heatsink. However, its newer single-sided design is power-efficient and generates minimal heat. This usually means a heatsink isn't necessary, even in a PS5. However, adding one for extra peace of mind is perfectly fine.
