Last of Us Season 2 Gets Premiere Month, New Trailer
HBO's The Last of Us season 2 premieres this April! Sony's CES 2025 showcase unveiled a new trailer confirming the release date. The trailer offered glimpses of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby and the memorable Ellie and Dina dance scene.
The highly anticipated second season, adapting elements from The Last of Us Part II, will likely span multiple seasons, as co-creator Craig Mazin previously suggested. The seven-episode season will take creative liberties, expanding on the narrative and characters, as evidenced by the inclusion of a scene not present in the game, such as Joel's therapy session.
The new, minute-long trailer features action-packed moments and emotional highlights from the game, culminating in a red flare signifying the April premiere. This pinpoints the release within the previously announced Spring 2025 window (March-June). While a specific date remains unannounced, the April premiere is now confirmed.
New Trailer and Fan Speculation
The recently released trailer, while featuring some previously seen footage, also includes new scenes generating significant fan discussion. These include updated shots of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, the iconic Ellie and Dina dance, and a chilling opening alarm. Speculation continues regarding Catherine O’Hara’s role, with fans also noting the Roman numeral styling reminiscent of Part II.
Beyond O’Hara’s character, fans are also speculating about potential new cast additions. While season 1 introduced original characters, anticipation builds for the live-action debut of characters like Jesse and the return of Jeffrey Wright as Isaac Dixon.
