Silver Surfer Spotlighted in New Fantastic Four Trailer Amid Galactus Threat
The latest trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps offers an exciting glimpse into a new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) world, spotlighting Julia Garner's portrayal of the Silver Surfer and her crucial role within it. This two-and-a-half-minute clip not only showcases the utopian world built by Marvel's First Family—consisting of Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), the Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Human Torch (Joseph Quinn)—but also emphasizes their status as a (growing) team of heroes. They are celebrated not just for saving the day, but for being role models for people of all ages. However, their harmonious world faces a dire challenge with the arrival of Garner's Silver Surfer, who descends from the sky to warn them of the impending threat posed by Galactus.
This trailer is significantly more action-packed than previous glimpses we've had. Viewers get a thrilling look at Ben Grimm, also known as The Thing, smashing through pillars, and a clear demonstration of Reed Richards' stretchy abilities. These sequences offer fresh interpretations of the classic powers that the Fantastic Four have wielded for decades, promising an exciting showcase of teamwork when the film releases in July.
Julia Garner's Silver Surfer, however, steals the show with her commanding presence. Despite speaking only a few ominous words about the alternate Earth being “marked for death,” her character exudes power as she effortlessly counters the Human Torch and navigates through explosive scenarios. While we are still left in suspense regarding the full reveal of Galactus' updated MCU appearance, the trailer does provide a glimpse of his devastating entrance as he stomps through the city.
