Sonic Rumble Delay: Sega Prepares Update
- Sonic Rumble isn’t releasing just yet
- Sega has prepared the version 1.2 update with lots of new content
- Q&A session to be held on Discord
Despite an exciting pre-launch crossover event that brought in fan favorites like Super Monkey Ball, Altered Beast, and other iconic Sega titles, Sonic Rumble won’t be launching globally just yet. The highly anticipated multiplayer battle royale, which has already surpassed 1.4 million pre-registrations, has been temporarily delayed as Sega shifts focus to finalize update 1.2.
This upcoming update is set to introduce a wave of new content designed to enhance the gameplay experience in Dr. Eggman’s chaotic toybox arena. Headlining the patch are major features such as Rumble Rankings, Crews, and a brand-new Skills system—all aimed at adding depth and long-term engagement beyond the scramble to survive.
With Rumble Rankings, players can compete in seasonal leaderboards and earn exclusive rewards as they climb. Crews allow you to team up with friends and take on cooperative score-based missions, fostering stronger social gameplay. Meanwhile, the Skills system equips characters with unique abilities, introducing a fresh layer of strategy and personalization to every match.
Rather than rush these features during an initial launch, Sega has chosen to delay the release to ensure a smoother, more polished experience. To keep the community in the loop, a live Q&A session will be held on Discord on May 2nd, where players can get updates straight from the team and ask their most pressing questions.
The delay doesn’t dampen the excitement—pre-registration rewards remain secured for all participants. Everyone who signed up early will receive 5,000 Rings, a Crystal Chao Buddy, the Happy Sticker, the Garnet Knuckles skin, and the special Movie Sonic skin unlocked by hitting the 1.4 million pre-registration goal. These rewards will be waiting upon the game’s official launch.
In the meantime, you can still pre-register for Sonic Rumble via the links below. The game will launch as free-to-play with optional in-app purchases. For more details, visit the [official website][ttpp].
