Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Star Hasn't Recorded His Lines Yet

Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed to Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, and that many aspects of the film are still "being figured out." This news shouldn't come as a complete surprise, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.

"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the commencement of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a major antagonist in the third installment. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: Jerome portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges at the film's conclusion not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.

This Miles's origin story differs significantly from the main protagonist's. The radioactive spider bite intended for him instead bit the main Miles, altering their respective destinies. Consequently, this Miles didn't become Spider-Man, and after the death of his universe's Peter Parker, New York fell under the control of supervillains, with Miles himself becoming one.

The unfolding of this storyline, and its impact on the main Spider-Man, will be central to Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will likely face a considerable wait, with Deadline predicting a release no earlier than 2026, or potentially as late as 2028 if the production timeline mirrors that of the previous film.
