Star Wars: Hunters Shuts Down Before First Anniversary

The news of *Star Wars: Hunters* announcing its shutdown before even completing a year might come as a shock to fans, but the game will still get the chance to celebrate its one-year anniversary before the curtains close. The question remains: Is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game that's on its way out?

When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?

The servers of *Star Wars: Hunters* are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the road for the game just nine months after its launch. Players have until April 15th to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on that date.

Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is rolling out a final content update on April 15th, featuring a new Support Hunter named Tuya, available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled.

Ranked Mode will keep running until the servers go offline, and past seasonal events will be rerun. If you have any unspent Crystals, now's the time to use them, as there will be no refunds offered.

It Isn’t Shocking

While the shutdown is unfortunate, it's not entirely surprising. *Star Wars: Hunters* faced numerous challenges from the outset. Announced in 2020, the game experienced multiple delays and limited beta testing, only available in the SEA and ANZAC regions.

The lack of major console support and a tepid reception contributed to its downfall. From a design perspective, the choice to feature generic original characters over the iconic figures of the Star Wars universe might have been a missed opportunity.

If you've uninstalled the game but want to give it one last go, you can still download it from the Google Play Store until the shutdown date.
