Cygames, the developer behind the game, took to Twitter (X) on April 27 to announce that the game will launch on June 26, 2025. Pre-registration kicked off the very next day on April 28.

Originally launched in Japan on February 24, 2021, for iOS, Android, and PC, Umamusume: Pretty Derby offers a captivating narrative where legendary racehorses are reincarnated as "horse girls" or "Umamusume." These characters blend the appearance of high school girls with the ears, tails, endurance, and speed of horses. They train at Tokyo's Tracen Academy, striving to achieve fame as both racers and idols.

According to the game's Steam page, Umamusume: Pretty Derby offers an immersive sports life simulation. Players can scout and train over 20 different Uma Musumes, utilizing the game’s intricate training system and stunning 3D graphics. The game also features a gacha system for scouting and competing in races.

In a March 2025 report from PocketGamer.biz, the Japanese version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby amassed over $2.5 billion in mobile revenue within just four years, nearly hitting the $1 billion mark in its launch year of 2021.
