Weapon Variety Reigns Supreme in 'Monster Hunter Wilds'

Author : Sophia Update : Feb 19,2025

Concerns about weapon design similarity in Monster Hunter Rise (Wilds is likely a typo) prompted comparisons to Monster Hunter: World. Director Yuya Tokuda clarified this, stating that unlike World, where weapon appearance varied based on monster materials but retained a core design, Rise's weapons boast entirely unique designs.

PlayThis directly addresses fan anxieties. While some World weapons evolved into unique forms through upgrades, many remained visually similar. The image below illustrates this, showcasing the similarity between the final Aqua and Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the Bone and Jyuratodus Long Swords. These represent the most upgraded versions at launch.

Contrast this with the Rise weapons shown below. Their distinct designs confirm Tokuda's statement.
