Weekly Challenges: A New Game Mode in The Battle of Polytopia

The Battle of Polytopia has taken its competitive gameplay to the next level with the exciting addition of Weekly Challenges. This new feature offers players a structured and skill-focused way to dive into the 4X strategy experience, testing their tactical prowess in a leveled playing field. Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about this fresh update.

It Was Random Before

While randomness has always been a core part of The Battle of Polytopia—thanks to procedurally generated maps, varied resources, and unpredictable opponents—the latest free update introduces a more balanced form of competition. No more relying purely on luck. Now, strategy and execution take center stage.

Each week, every player receives the exact same map, the same tribe, and identical starting conditions. Your mission? Achieve the highest possible score within a strict 20-turn limit. You’re allowed one attempt per day, giving you up to seven runs to perfect your strategy and climb the leaderboards.

A Fair Field for All

One of the best parts? You can play as any of the game’s 16 tribes—even ones you don’t own. While the base game includes four tribes and the rest are available as individual purchases ($1–$4 each), Weekly Challenges eliminate ownership barriers. Everyone competes as the same tribe each week, ensuring fairness and giving you a chance to experience playstyles you haven’t unlocked yet.

Will Weekly Challenges Make The Battle of Polytopia More Exciting?

Absolutely. Beyond the weekly tests, a new League system adds long-term progression. All players start in the Entry League. At the end of each week, rankings shift: the top third move up, the bottom third drop down, and the middle third remain in place.

As you climb, the challenge intensifies. Entry League features Easy AI opponents, but by the time you reach Gold League, you’ll be facing off against Crazy difficulty bots. Skip a week? No demotion—but your rank will still adjust based on how others perform, keeping the competition dynamic.
