New Wukong Sun Game Debuts on Switch

Wukong Sun: Black Legend, a game currently available for pre-order on the US eShop, raises concerns due to its striking similarities to the acclaimed Game Science title, Black Myth: Wukong. The visual style, the protagonist wielding a staff, and the plot summary strongly suggest significant borrowing, potentially constituting copyright infringement.

The game's description reads: “Embark on an epic journey to the West. Play as the immortal Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, battling for order in a chaotic world teeming with formidable monsters and deadly perils. Explore a story inspired by Chinese mythology, featuring intense combat, breathtaking environments, and legendary foes.” This echoes the core premise and tone of Black Myth: Wukong.

Black Myth: Wukong, a hugely popular RPG from a small Chinese studio, captivated players worldwide with its detailed visuals, engaging gameplay, and challenging yet accessible combat system. Its blend of action and souls-like elements, coupled with stunning visuals and animations, created a truly immersive experience. The game's stunning visuals and world design are frequently cited as highlights, often prompting comparisons to a captivating fairytale. Many gamers believe Black Myth: Wukong was deserving of a "Game of the Year 2024" nomination at the TGA awards.

The similarities between Wukong Sun: Black Legend and Black Myth: Wukong raise serious questions about the former's future. Game Science may well pursue legal action for copyright infringement, potentially leading to the game's removal from the eShop.
