Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has revealed the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct: January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual installment of the event and the first Xbox game showcase of the new year. The event will begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT and will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

Following the successful launches of the 2023 and 2024 Developer Directs, Microsoft continues its tradition of early-year showcases, confirming previous rumors of a January announcement.

Confirmed Games for Xbox Developer Direct 2025:

The showcase will feature at least three highly anticipated titles:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), targeting a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: From id Software, this new entry in the Doom franchise was initially unveiled in June 2024 and showcased at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 release is currently rumored.
  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game developed by Compulsion Games (Canada), known for Contrast and We Happy Few. Announced in June 2023, a release date is expected.

More Than Just Three Games?

While these three games are confirmed, past Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and showcased multiple titles. The 2024 event, for example, included previews of Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. Expect the possibility of further unannounced surprises at this year's event.
