Anointing Guide for Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2)
In *Path of Exile 2*, much like its predecessor and other action RPGs, enhancing your character's power is key to conquering the game's challenges. One of the more advanced mechanics available to players is anointing, which can significantly boost your gameplay. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to anoint in *Path of Exile 2*.
How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2
Unlocking the ability to anoint your amulets and Waystones is a feature you'll access later in the game, as it requires Distilled Emotions. These are obtained primarily through Delirium Maps, which are similar to the Blight Oils from the first game. There are ten types of Distilled Emotions: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering.
The most straightforward method to acquire Distilled Emotions is by completing Delirium Maps, which reward you with a random selection upon completion. Alternatively, you can obtain them through currency exchange or the trade market, offering flexibility in how you gather these crucial items.
To upgrade your Distilled Emotions, head to the Reforging Bench. Here, you can combine three of the same type to produce an upgraded version, allowing you to tailor your collection to your needs.
For those seeking a challenge, tackling Simulacrum waves offers another avenue to obtain Distilled Emotions, though it's less efficient than Delirium Maps and requires a robust build due to the increased difficulty.
How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2
Anointing is available for both Waystones and amulets. Keep in mind that *Path of Exile 2* is currently in Early Access, so more anointing options might be introduced in future updates. To anoint an amulet, select any Distilled Emotion to access the Instilling window. Then, place the amulet in the center box and three Distilled Emotions in the bottom boxes. The specific emotions required for the desired anointing ability can be found by hovering over a Notable Passive Skill in the Passive Skill Tree and pressing alt (on a keyboard) or R3 (on a controller).
The same anointing process applies to Waystones, enhancing their difficulty but also potentially improving the loot they offer. Note that neither amulets nor Waystones can be anointed if they are corrupted.
With this guide, you're now equipped to enhance your amulets and Waystones through anointing, thereby boosting your current build or challenging yourself further in *Path of Exile 2*.
*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
