Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile Game

Bandai Namco has made the bittersweet announcement of shutting down PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary celebration this year. Launched over a decade ago, this version of the game has been a staple for many fans, blending nostalgia with modern mobile gaming features.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases have been discontinued since April 1st, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final day. The decision has sparked disappointment among the community, many of whom suggested an offline version could have kept the game alive while still generating revenue for Bandai Namco.

PAC-MAN Mobile, formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, wasn't just about recreating the classic arcade experience. It included an iconic 8-bit arcade mode, a Story Mode with a variety of original mazes, an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events offering exclusive skins, and a Tournament Mode with weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels. The game also featured numerous skins for PAC-MAN, ghosts, and even the joystick, enhancing the visual appeal and personalization options for players.

The Reason

Over the past few years, the game has struggled with numerous bugs and issues, which likely contributed to the decision to shut it down. Reflecting on its early days, particularly the launch on Android, the excitement of competing for high scores and leaderboard positions was palpable and highly engaging for the community.

For those wishing to experience PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its closure, the game is still available on the Google Play Store. Don't miss out on this final opportunity to enjoy the iconic game.
