Battlefield Fans Are Digging the Leaks, and EA Hasn't Taken Them Down Yet

Author : Max Update : May 05,2025

Despite requiring players to sign NDAs to prevent details of EA's upcoming untitled Battlefield game from leaking online, the game has leaked online anyway, with dozens of videos and screenshots surfacing. These leaks, contributed by participants of the game's closed playtesting, showcase various aspects of the gameplay.

As previously reported when these leaks first appeared, the footage confirms the "modern" setting teased by Vince Zampella, setting it apart from other entries in the Battlefield series. A quick browse through the Battlefield subreddit reveals numerous firefights, glimpses of the game's destructible environments, and introduces several new mechanics, such as the ability to hang off vehicles and drag wounded teammates to safety.

Surprisingly, EA seems to be taking a lenient approach towards these leaks, despite the fact that players are breaching confidentiality agreements by sharing this content. Most publishers are typically quick to issue takedowns for leaked early footage due to concerns over incomplete animations, unfinished UI, and less-than-stellar graphics. However, EA has not taken such actions this time around.

This relaxed response might be influenced by the fact that, unlike Battlefield 2042's lukewarm reception, fans appear to be pretty pleased with what they've seen so far.

One player expressed cautious optimism, stating, "I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…" Another player noted, "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me."

Enthusiasm was evident in comments like, "Dude, even in a pre-alpha state, the explosions, bullets, and projectiles whizzing by, buildings crumbling down, dust kicking up. This has so much potential!" and "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."

EA expects its next Battlefield game to launch in the fiscal year 2026, which means it will be released sometime between April 2025 and March 2026. Following our first official unveiling just last month, we now know that the new Battlefield will feature the return of a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, a feature that was notably absent from the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042, much to the delight of fans.
