When diving into a game classified as a Soulslike, players brace themselves for challenging encounters, and *The First Berserker: Khazan* delivers this experience right from the start with the boss Yetuga. Here’s a detailed guide on how to conquer this formidable opponent in *The First Berserker: Khazan*.
How To Beat Yetuga in The First Berserker: Khazan
Even though Yetuga is your first boss encounter in the game, don't expect an easy fight. After getting familiar with the game's combat mechanics, you'll need to utilize every skill to emerge victorious.
Yetuga is a relentless adversary, fiercely defending its territory at the end of the Mount Heinmach level. This boss can unleash both close and long-range attacks, including a devastating leaping slam. To survive, focus on mastering your dodges and parries to minimize damage. Yetuga's arsenal includes:
- A two-hit combo with a left-handed smash followed by a right-handed uppercut
- A four-hit combo of horizontal swipes using either arm
- A powerful downward smash with both arms
- A leaping single-handed smash
- A jumping grab
- A charge attack
Throughout the battle, you'll need to learn its attack patterns and strike during the brief windows between its assaults. Parrying, except for the jumping grab, will inflict significant Stamina damage to Yetuga. You can turn its aggressive nature to your advantage; for instance, dodging its charge and allowing it to crash into a wall will create a brief opportunity for you to attack. This is your chance to break the ice spikes on its back, weakening its offensive capabilities.
In the second phase, you can parry all attacks except the grab, which will help conserve your Stamina. Maintain the offensive pressure to push Yetuga into its next stage. When it roars and powers up, create some distance immediately.
Yetuga will then grab a giant rock and attempt to crush you with it. Dodge or parry at the perfect moment to avoid damage. It will also begin using a frost breath that generates ice spikes; move out of the way or parry this attack when it reaches you. Utilize Potent Attacks when possible, and when Yetuga is exhausted, unleash a Brutal Attack for significant damage. With persistence, Yetuga will soon fall.
Upon defeating Yetuga, you'll be rewarded with 4,800 Lacrima, several Frozen Mountain gear items, and the Necklace of Resolve.
