"Cosmo Jarvis Returns for Shogun Season 2, Set a Decade Later"
The acclaimed series Shōgun, which clinched 18 Emmy Awards and 4 Golden Globes, is set to captivate audiences once again with its highly anticipated second season. FX has confirmed that Cosmo Jarvis, who portrays the pilot John Blackthorn, will not only reprise his role but also step into the role of co-executive producer. This news comes from an official press release by FX, signaling exciting developments for the show.
Moreover, Hiroyuki Sanada, who plays Lord Yoshii Toranaga and was initially part of the limited series, has committed to Season 2 since last May. Following his involvement in the original run as a producer, Sanada has been elevated to the position of executive producer. Production for the new season is scheduled to kick off in January 2026 in Vancouver, the same location where the first season was filmed.
FX describes Season 2 of *Shōgun* as "a wholly original new chapter to the first season," which adapted James Clavell’s novel. The network elaborated on the connection between the two seasons:"In the first season, Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Sanada) fought for his survival as his enemies in the Council of Regents united against him. When a mysterious European ship was found marooned in a nearby village, its English pilot John Blackthorne (Jarvis) shared vital strategic secrets with Toranaga that tipped the scales of power in his favor to win a century-defining civil war.
"Part two of Shōgun is set 10 years after the events of the first season and continues the historically-inspired saga of these two men from different worlds whose fates are inextricably entwined.”
Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of new episodes, which, if all goes well, could premiere by the end of 2026. Until then, the excitement builds as we await further updates on this stellar series.
