Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss Announced by Creators of The Council
Big Bad Wolf, the studio behind critically acclaimed games like Vampire: The Masquerade Swansong and The Council, has unveiled its next project: Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss. The announcement was accompanied by a stunning CG trailer, introducing players to Noah, the protagonist battling encroaching madness, the submerged city of R'lyeh, and the terrifying Great Old One, Cthulhu himself.
The year is 2053. Deep-sea mining corporations inadvertently awaken an ancient cosmic horror. Players assume the role of Noah, an agent with Interpol's secretive Occult Affairs division, investigating the mysterious disappearance of miners in the Pacific Ocean. Aided by Key, his AI companion, players will delve into the secrets of the sunken city of R'lyeh, solve challenging puzzles, and struggle to maintain their sanity against Cthulhu's overwhelming influence.
Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game promises surreal and unsettling environments that will fully immerse players in its chilling atmosphere. The recently released trailer hints at a tense and thrilling adventure. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is slated for release in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Separately, Frogwares also revealed gameplay footage for The Sinking City 2, another Lovecraftian-inspired title.
