GAMM: Gateway to Italian Gaming History

Rome's newest and largest video game museum, GAMM (Game Museum), has officially opened its doors to the public! Located in Piazza della Repubblica, this exciting venture is the creation of Marco Accordi Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus.

Rickards, a passionate advocate for preserving video game history and culture, describes GAMM as an immersive journey blending historical context, technological innovation, and interactive gameplay exploration. GAMM builds upon the legacy of Vigamus, another successful Rome-based gaming museum that has attracted over two million visitors since 2012.

The expansive 700-square-meter museum, spread across two floors, is organized into three captivating thematic sections. Before exploring the details, take a sneak peek!

Explore GAMM's Interactive Exhibits:

  • GAMMDOME: A dynamic digital playground featuring interactive exhibits alongside genuine historical gaming artifacts, including consoles and donated memorabilia. This section adheres to the "4 E Concept": Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.

  • Path of Arcadia (PARC): Step back in time to the golden age of arcade games, revisiting classic titles from the late 1970s through the 1980s, with a touch of early 1990s nostalgia.

  • Historical Playground (HIP): Delve into the mechanics and design principles of video games. This area offers a behind-the-scenes look at game development, examining game structure and interactive design.

GAMM is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and on Fridays and Saturdays until 11:30 PM. Tickets cost 15 euros. For more information, visit the official GAMM website.
