God of War Ragnarok Celebrates Franchise's 20-Year Anniversary With Dark Odyssey Cosmetic Update Next Week

Sony and the game developer Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting update for God of War Ragnarök set to launch next week. This update introduces a range of in-game equipment inspired by one of the franchise's most iconic outfits, marking a significant addition to the game.

In a detailed post on the PlayStation.Blog, Sony outlined their comprehensive plans for celebrating the 20th anniversary of God of War. The Dark Odyssey collection is the centerpiece of this celebration, offering a free update to all God of War Ragnarök players on PlayStation 5 and PC, available starting March 20.

The Dark Odyssey collection features a sleek, black-and-gold aesthetic, designed to enhance the visual appeal of Kratos and his companions as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology. Alongside Kratos, both Atreus and Freya will receive their own unique cosmetic sets, while a variety of shields and weapons will also be updated with the Dark Odyssey look.

The highlight of the update is undoubtedly the Dark Odyssey appearance and armor set for Kratos, reminiscent of a skin that was once exclusive to players who conquered God of War 2 on God Mode difficulty. This coveted set can be obtained from any Lost Items chest within the base game or instantly in the roguelike Valhalla mode post-update. Additionally, the update will enable players to customize Kratos’ weapons’ appearances without affecting their abilities, adding a new layer of personalization to the gameplay experience.
