GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day
Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 star Ned Luke assures fans that the highly anticipated GTA 6 is worth the wait, even venturing a bold sales prediction. This article explores Luke's insights and the ongoing speculation surrounding GTA 6's development and release.
Rockstar Games' Unpredictable Approach to GTA 6
GTA 5 Actor Predicts $1.3 Billion Day-One Revenue for GTA 6
Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts that GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with Fall Damage on YouTube, Luke shared his excitement for the upcoming title, emphasizing Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected.
Luke urges patience, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He points to GTA 5's impressive $800 million day-one revenue in 2013 as a benchmark, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass that figure. Market research firm DFC Intelligence projects over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in first-year revenue, with $1 billion attributed solely to pre-orders.
The Return of GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6?
Luke also offered insights into the possibility of GTA 5 characters reappearing in GTA Online and potentially GTA 6. He notes that his character, Michael, has been absent from GTA Online since its launch, unlike Trevor and Franklin.
He hints at Michael's possible inclusion in a final GTA Online DLC or even a role in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested Trevor's death as a narrative device, Luke remains coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, official confirmation remains elusive.
GTA 6: In the Testing Phase?
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is currently undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, York highlighted the game's unique unpredictability, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."
York believes the game is likely in its internal testing phase, with "a little work and throwing in little extras," suggesting a playable version exists and extensive testing is underway.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a teaser trailer in December 2023, but details remain scarce. While a Fall 2025 release was previously speculated based on Take-Two Interactive's financial reports, no official release date has been confirmed.
