GTA 6: S-Tier or Not? Ranking All Rockstar Games
The excitement for the new GTA 6 trailer is palpable, and if you missed it, we've broken down all the secrets and details for you. Unfortunately, we'll need to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's story. In the meantime, let's take a nostalgic journey through the Rockstar games we've loved over the years and rank them for fun.
Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has developed and released over 30 games, including iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which one reigns supreme? Note that this list focuses solely on games developed by Rockstar, excluding titles like LA Noire or Max Payne 2 which they published. I've ranked them using an IGN Tier List, based on my personal enjoyment over the years. Check out my tier list below:
Red Dead Redemption 2 stands out as my all-time favorite, making it an easy S-tier choice. It's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5, both of which have set the standard for cinematic open-world experiences. I also have a special fondness for Max Payne 3 and its thrilling bullet time mechanics, as well as GTA San Andreas, which I played at a surprisingly young age. At the bottom of the list in the D-tier, you'll find games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!, which are generally not well-received.
Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you believe Vice City outshines GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the IGN community.
