Jak and Daxter: Power Cells Guide for Precursor Basin
After conquering the intense Zoomer level in Fire Canyon, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy introduces you to the seemingly calmer, yet challenging, Precursor Basin. While less hazardous, this vehicle-based section can be tougher to navigate due to its demanding objectives. Precursor Basin tests your Zoomer skills with various driving challenges, from setting new race records to navigating through tricky rings and even engaging in Green Eco-based gardening. Mastering the Zoomer is crucial for players aiming to collect all Trophies and complete every task in this area.
Herd the Moles into their Hole
Start your Precursor Basin adventure with the straightforward task of herding moles back to their holes. These blind critters roam the first section, and your Zoomer is the key to guiding them home. Simply drive towards them to spook them into moving. Use the Zoomer's hop to make sharp turns and keep on their trail until they reach their holes. Once you've successfully herded four moles, head back to the Geologist in Rock Village to claim your Power Cell. Before leaving, make sure to tackle all other challenges in this area.
Catch the Flying Lurkers
In the same area as the moles, you'll encounter Flying Lurkers that take flight as you approach. Your mission is to chase them down and ram them with your Zoomer. These Lurkers follow elusive paths, so your best strategy is to anticipate their turns and cut them off at key points. The final Lurker you take down will reward you with a Power Cell.
Beat Record Time on the Gorge
The Gambler in the Village has a challenge for you: beat the record time on the Gorge racecourse. Located near the Precursor Basin entrance, this tight course demands precision. Your target is 45 seconds, achievable with practice. Start by navigating past a Lurker to gain a boost from a jump, then thread between two pillars to grab Blue Eco for a speed boost. Stay left after the pillars and use a hop-turn to ascend the slope. Maneuver through moving Pistons and avoid Dark Eco Crates to reach a pit where a well-timed hop and 180-degree turn are essential. Choose between a risky high path with more Blue Eco or a safer, slower route. Finish the course by staying left to avoid more Dark Eco and weaving through pistons. Return to the Gambler in Rock Village after beating the time to claim your Power Cell. Aim for under 40 seconds to earn a trophy.
Get the Power Cell Over the Lake
Spotting the Power Cell over the lake is easy, but reaching it requires skillful driving. Start from the slope used in the Lurker chase, head up and around, then cross the narrow bridge using a hop to clear the gap between islands. Use the ramp on the second island to reach the spot shown in your guide, then ascend the slope, execute a 180-degree turn halfway up, and hop across three islands. Finally, drive at full speed across the last pair of islands and jump to grab the Power Cell.
Cure the Dark Eco Infected Plants
Take a breather with this simpler task. Charge your Zoomer with Green Eco and drive through the purple plants to cure them. Be swift and careful, as they'll regrow if you take too long. Use the hop for sharp turns and top up with Green Eco from vents if needed. It may take a few runs, but you'll earn a Power Cell for fully curing the plants.
Navigate the Purple Precursor Rings
The Purple Precursor Ring challenge begins when you pass through the first ring, triggering the appearance of subsequent rings. Race to hit all rings before time expires. This challenge is less daunting than the blue rings but still requires attention. A notable tricky spot is a ring off a natural bridge; jump off and through it, as the next ring will be at ground level. Another challenging ring appears after avoiding a hole on a raised track; hitting this one ends the challenge and rewards you with a Power Cell.
Navigate the Blue Precursor Rings
The Blue Precursor Rings present a tougher challenge. Starting near the slope for the lake Power Cell, head left and slightly down to find the first ring. A key tricky spot involves navigating around a pillar and hitting rings over the lake, requiring a hop off rocks to reach them. After looping around the Zoomer Trans-pad, make a precise jump off a hill to hit an airborne ring. At a crossroads over the lake, turn right to hit the next ring, then maneuver through more rings along narrow paths. The final ring hangs over a slope's edge; pass through it to secure another Power Cell.
Free the 7 Scout Flies
To earn another Power Cell, you need to free all seven Scout Flies in Precursor Basin. The first is near the Mole Hole. The second is at the top of the slope leading to the lake Power Cell. Continue across the narrow bridge to find the third on the right, near the purple precursor ring location. The fourth is on the right side of a raised area with a hole in the middle, while the fifth is directly underneath it. The sixth can be found after hopping across the three islands near the lake Power Cell. Finally, the seventh is next to the first Blue Precursor Ring.
