Japanese Switch 2 to Sell at Lower Price than Global Version

Author : Zachary Update : Apr 13,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 will introduce a unique pricing strategy, with different costs in Japan compared to the rest of the world. This new gaming system will come in two distinct versions: a Japanese-language system, available exclusively in Japan, and a Multi-Language System, available globally. The Japanese version will be priced at approximately $330, whereas the Multi-Language System will cost $449.99, creating a significant price difference of over $100. This discrepancy is largely due to the current weak yen against the USD, which impacts tourist purchases in Japan.

Residents of Japan will have the option to purchase either version, but the Japanese-language system will be exclusively available in Japan and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts set to the Japan region. This version will support only the Japanese language and will offer software exclusively available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.

For those interested in using the Nintendo Switch 2 in languages other than Japanese, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. Further details about this version will be disclosed on April 4.
