"Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrades Announced for Key Games Including Breath of the Wild and Metroid Prime 4"
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled that nearly the entire catalog of Nintendo Switch games will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2. However, select titles are set to receive enhanced "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" versions, boasting unique features. These titles include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Mario Party: Jamboree.
Each "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" game offers unique enhancements. The showcase began with Super Mario Party: Jamboree, which introduces a feature called "Jamboree TV". This upgrade includes mouse controls, audio recognition, "more expressive rumble", and innovative gameplay using the new camera accessory.
Next up were The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, both of which are slated for enhanced resolution, higher framerates, and HDR support. These titles will also benefit from a new service on the Nintendo Switch Online app called Zelda Notes, featuring voice guidance to aid in locating Shrines and Koroks, along with the ability to share creations in Tears of the Kingdom via QR codes with friends.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is set to receive a new story exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 titled Star-Crossed World, in addition to improved graphics and framerates.
Two eagerly anticipated titles, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A, will also see upgrades. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will incorporate mouse control capabilities, and will run at 4K resolution with 60fps and HDR. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will feature enhanced resolution and framerates.
All upgraded games will be available in both physical and digital formats. Additionally, owners of the original versions of Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Party, and Kirby on the Nintendo Switch can purchase upgrade packs to enjoy the enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 Editions.

The buzz around "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" games started last week with a brief mention on a webpage discussing the newly announced Virtual Game Card system. The footnote clarified that these enhanced versions cannot be transferred via Virtual Game Card to the original Nintendo Switch.
