Lies of P director: DLC unconnected to base game ending
Ever since the announcement of Lies of P's upcoming DLC "Overture," speculation has been rampant about what secrets it might reveal. During last week's Game Developers Conference, IGN confirmed one mystery it definitely won't solve: the bizarre final cutscene twist from the base game.
For players who haven't completed Lies of P yet (spoiler-free summary ahead): The ending features a cryptic scene hinting at the future direction of the franchise. This unexpected twist has fueled fan theories about its implementation and whether the DLC would provide answers. However, game director Jiwon Choi clarified this scene isn't connected to Overture, stating only: "Please stay tuned for future announcements."

With Neowiz already confirming a full Lies of P sequel, the mysterious cutscene likely teases that project instead. Details about Lies of P 2 remain scarce, and Choi declined to share any hints during our discussion.
"What I can confirm is that when we share news or media assets," Choi explained, "it means we're fully prepared to present them. This reflects our strict commitment to quality despite development pressures. That's my promise - we'll only share content when we're ready."

The controversial scene features Paracelsus mentioning "Dorothy" while speaking on the phone, followed by a reveal of Wizard of Oz-inspired striped socks and ruby slippers. This strongly suggests future installments will incorporate other public domain fairy tales, though Overture won't address this connection.

Choi did share some Overture insights. He recommends replaying the base game, as Neowiz planted numerous clues about the DLC's content throughout Krat:
"Replaying reveals many hints we've scattered across the experience," Choi revealed. "Players will recognize these moments when they appear in the expansion. The DLC incorporates elements we originally envisioned for the base game but couldn't implement previously."

The director noted some fan theories have already accurately predicted Neowiz's plans. Additional details emerged:
- The DLC offers 15-20 hours of content for experienced players
- Access unlocks after completing a specific late-game chapter
- Functions as a prequel with time travel to pre-collapse Krat
- Introduces new locations, enemies, bosses, characters and weapons
Choi remained tight-lipped about specifics, preferring to maintain surprises for the official launch.
